Ravindra Natya Mandir Mumbai

Mumbai

Renovation within the existing shell. Structural walls and balcony were retained; step widths and riser heights were rectified to correct sight lines, and the false ceiling geometry was redesigned for reflection control and sound pressure distribution. Existing catwalks were wrongly positioned and were revised and relocated to place both front-of-house positions correctly. The orchestra pit was corrected from symphony depth to a depth suited to Indian-style drama. Scope also covered acoustic materials and interior construction detailing, stage geometry and side stage, seating layout, stage drapery, stage lighting and the audio-visual system. Interior theme and colour scheme by the project architect.
